Papa Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot on 26 July 2024 took time from his busy schedule to honor the late Rev. Canon Naphtali Opwata during a burial in Asamuk. In his remarks, Papa Emorimor praised Canon Opwata for his dedication to the church and his role in uniting the community. He recalled how Canon Opwata readily conducted prayers during his coronation in Soroti city.
Papa Emorimor expressed condolences to the family and church, emphasizing the importance of education, health services, and government initiatives like the Parish Development Fund. He announced a groundbreaking ceremony for the first-ever Ere Iteso, a significant cultural milestone.
The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Papa Oluma Jones deputy Prime Minister ICU , elders local MPs and bishops, highlighting the community\’s support. Bishop Hosea Odongo led the service, urging the Iteso to prioritize food production for sustainability and encouraging Ateker to cherish our heritage by speaking Ateso language
